Our Senior Calm Care service is designed to keep aging dogs safe, comfortable, and supported by adapting the grooming process to their changing needs.

We move at your dog's pace, prioritize comfort over perfection, and modify each appointment based on their physical abilities—not just their age.

Who is Senior Calm Care For?

Senior Calm Care is recommended for dogs who need additional physical support during grooming due to age-related changes or medical conditions. This service may be appropriate for dogs who:

Are blind or deaf
Have arthritis or mobility limitations
Struggle to stand for extended periods
Need assistance with balance
Require support from two groomers for safe handling
Tire easily or need frequent rest breaks
Take veterinarian-prescribed medications that require additional monitoring
Benefit from a modified grooming plan due to age-related changes

Our Approach

Every Senior Calm Care appointment is customized to your dog's individual needs. Depending on your dog's comfort level, we may allow them to sit or lie down during portions of the groom, shorten or simplify the haircut, take frequent breaks, slow the pace of the appointment, or adjust our handling techniques to reduce fatigue and discomfort.

Dogs receiving veterinarian-prescribed medications for pain, mobility, or cognitive changes are welcome. Because medicated pets require additional observation and monitoring throughout the appointment, extra time is built into this service to help ensure their safety and comfort.

You'll receive updates during the appointment and an honest assessment of how your dog tolerated the groom so we can continue adapting their care as their needs change.

After your dog's first Senior Calm Care appointment, we'll review a required Senior Comfort Acknowledgement Form together. This personalized care record documents your dog's physical limitations, grooming accommodations, and any concerns observed during the appointment, allowing us to provide consistent, individualized care as those needs change over time.

When Is It Time to Adjust Your Dog’s Grooming?

As dogs age, their grooming needs often change. Your dog may benefit from Senior Calm Care if they:

Struggle to stand for long periods
Become tired more quickly during grooming
Have arthritis or mobility limitations
Have vision or hearing loss
Become uncomfortable during drying or brushing
Need frequent breaks or additional physical support

Pricing

Many senior dogs do not require a Senior Calm Care modification fee, they simply need a few extra breaks or small adjustments, which we happily provide as part of their regular grooming appointment at no additional charge.

Senior Calm Care is not based on age alone.

This service is for dogs who require significant additional time, physical support, specialized handling, medication monitoring, or individualized accommodations beyond a standard groom. These appointments may require two groomers, extended appointment times, modified grooming techniques, or a personalized care plan.

When these accommodations are needed, a Senior Calm Care modification fee of $25–$100 may be added based on your dog's size, temperament, physical needs, and the level of support required.
